About the Exam
CSIR UGC NET is held twice a year by the National Testing Agency on behalf of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research. Clearing it with a JRF rank means a monthly fellowship to pursue research at premier institutes; clearing the Assistant Professor (lectureship) band opens the door to teaching careers in universities and colleges. For science postgraduates, it is the single most important qualifying exam.
